DUTIES OF VARIOUS COMMITTEES/CELLS (2026–27)

FYUGP College-Level Committee

The FYUGP College-Level Committee coordinates and monitors the effective implementation of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) in the college in accordance with the guidelines, regulations, and directions of Kannur University, Government of Kerala, and other competent authorities. The committee facilitates curriculum implementation, academic planning, course and pathway selection, credit management, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary learning, internships, projects, skill enhancement, and other components of the FYUGP. It conducts student orientation and awareness programmes to help students understand the FYUGP structure, credit requirements, course choices, academic progression, and opportunities available under the programme. The committee also coordinates with Heads of Departments, teachers, academic coordinators, and other stakeholders to address academic and administrative issues related to FYUGP and ensures proper documentation and timely compliance with university regulations. Students can directly approach the teacher in charge or designated members of the committee for guidance, clarification, academic support, or assistance regarding any FYUGP-related matter, with consent of their department FYUGP advisor.

Academic Monitoring Committee

The Academic Monitoring Committee is responsible for ensuring the effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of all academic activities of the college in accordance with Kannur University regulations and institutional policies. The committee oversees the implementation of the academic calendar, timely completion of the syllabus, adherence to class timetables, maintenance of faculty workload, student attendance, internal examinations, assignment and seminar schedules, and continuous evaluation processes. It also reviews the teaching-learning process, monitors academic progress across departments, identifies delays or deficiencies, recommends corrective measures, and coordinates with Heads of Departments and IQAC to maintain high standards of academic quality and the effective delivery of the curriculum.

Internal Examination Committee

The committee coordinates and supervises the planning, conduct, and documentation of internal examinations and continuous assessment in accordance with University and institutional guidelines. Its major functions include:

  • Preparing and issuing examination notices and timetables.
  • Coordinating the preparation, collection, printing, and confidential handling of question papers.
  • Arranging examination halls, seating plans, invigilation duties, and attendance.
  • Ensuring smooth, fair, and disciplined conduct of examinations.
  • Coordinating valuation and timely entry of internal marks.
  • Preparing, verifying, and maintaining mark lists, consolidated records, and examination registers.
  • Monitoring internal assessment components such as tests, assignments, seminars, practicals, projects, attendance, and presentations, as applicable.
  • Providing students an opportunity for mark verification and correction of genuine errors.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and safe custody of question papers, answer scripts, and examination records.
  • Addressing examination-related queries and grievances of students.
  • Coordinating with HODs, faculty members, Principal, and University authorities whenever required.
  • Ensuring proper documentation for academic audits, IQAC, NAAC, and University requirements.

Internal Compliance Committee (Sexual Harassment of Women)

Internal Compliance Committee (ICC) is constituted in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the UGC Regulations, 2015, to ensure a safe, secure, inclusive, and gender-sensitive environment for women students, teaching staff, non-teaching staff, and visitors on the college campus. The Committee is responsible for preventing sexual harassment through awareness programmes, orientation sessions, and sensitization activities; receiving and confidentially addressing complaints; conducting fair, impartial, and time-bound inquiries in accordance with statutory provisions; recommending appropriate action to the Principal and Management; maintaining confidential records and statutory reports; and promoting a culture of dignity, equality, mutual respect, and zero tolerance towards sexual harassment within the institution.

Anti-Ragging Committee & Anti-Ragging Squad

The Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad are responsible for preventing and eliminating ragging in all forms within the college campus, hostels, transportation facilities, and other areas under the institution’s control, in accordance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions. The Committee shall formulate and implement preventive measures, conduct awareness and sensitization programmes for students and staff, display anti-ragging instructions and contact details, monitor potential risk areas, and review complaints or reports of ragging. The Anti-Ragging Squad shall undertake regular and surprise inspections, particularly during the beginning of the academic year, interact with students, identify and report incidents or warning signs, and take immediate preventive action. Complaints shall be promptly addressed and, where necessary, referred to the appropriate authority for inquiry and disciplinary action. The Committee shall maintain relevant records, submit required reports, and ensure strict enforcement of anti-ragging regulations with the objective of maintaining a safe, respectful, and ragging-free campus.

Student Grievance Redressal Committee

The Student Grievance Redressal Committee provides a simple, accessible, and student- friendly mechanism through which students can directly approach the Teacher-in-Charge or designated Committee members with any genuine issue, concern, suggestion, or grievance related to their college life. Students may bring to the notice of the Committee matters concerning academic activities, examinations, attendance, teaching-learning, college facilities, library, laboratory, infrastructure, transportation, canteen, sports, arts and cultural activities, student clubs, scholarships, administrative services, campus discipline, or any other matter affecting their academic and personal experience in the college. The Teacher-in- Charge shall listen to the student’s concern, examine the matter, coordinate with the concerned department or authority, and take necessary steps for its timely and fair resolution. The Committee shall maintain appropriate records of grievances and action taken, ensure confidentiality wherever required, monitor unresolved matters, and report significant issues to the Principal for further action. The Committee shall also encourage students to communicate their concerns freely and constructively, thereby promoting a supportive, responsive, transparent, and student-friendly campus environment.

Discipline Committee

The Discipline Committee is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, respectful, and positive academic environment throughout the college. The Committee shall address all matters relating to student discipline, misconduct, indiscipline, inappropriate behaviour, violation of college rules, disruption of academic activities, damage to institutional property, abusive or threatening behaviour, unauthorized activities, and other incidents affecting the normal functioning of the institution. Students, teachers, staff, or any member of the college community may bring discipline-related issues to the notice of the Teacher-in-Charge or Committee. The Committee shall promptly examine complaints and incidents, ascertain the facts by interacting with the concerned students and other relevant persons, and take appropriate steps to resolve the matter fairly and peacefully. It shall protect the safety, dignity, rights, and legitimate interests of students and staff, prevent escalation of conflicts, and ensure that no student or member of the college community is unfairly targeted or subjected to harassment. Wherever necessary, the Committee shall provide counselling, guidance, warnings, mediation, or other corrective measures and, in serious cases, recommend appropriate disciplinary action to the Principal in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University and competent authorities. The Committee shall maintain appropriate records of disciplinary matters, monitor recurring issues, undertake preventive and awareness programmes, and work in coordination with the Principal, Heads of Departments, Student Grievance Redressal Committee, Anti-Ragging Committee, and other concerned bodies to ensure a disciplined, safe, inclusive, and conducive campus environment.

Career Guidance and Placement Cell

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell is responsible for supporting students in planning and developing their academic, professional, and career pathways. The Cell provides career counselling and guidance based on students’ interests, abilities, qualifications, and career opportunities, and assists them in identifying suitable employment, higher education, professional courses, competitive examinations, internships, apprenticeships, and entrepreneurship opportunities. It organizes career awareness programmes, aptitude and skill development training, communication and soft-skill development, resume preparation, interview preparation, group discussions, placement drives, job fairs, and competitive examination coaching in collaboration with reputed organizations and training agencies. The Cell shall establish and strengthen links with industries, companies, professional institutions, government agencies, alumni, and other potential employers to facilitate internships, industrial visits, campus recruitment, and career-oriented training. It shall also disseminate information regarding job opportunities, higher studies, scholarships, fellowships, entrance examinations, and emerging career areas, maintain appropriate records of student participation, placements, internships, and higher education, and periodically assess and improve its activities. The Cell aims to enhance the employability, confidence, skills, and career readiness of students and help them successfully progress towards employment, higher education, entrepreneurship, and other meaningful career opportunities.

Scholarship Committee

The Scholarship Committee facilitates and monitors the implementation of government, university, institutional, and other scholarship and financial assistance schemes available to eligible students. The committee creates awareness among students regarding various scholarship opportunities, eligibility criteria, application procedures, required documents, deadlines, and renewal requirements. It assists students in completing online and offline applications, verifying documents, correcting application-related issues, and tracking the status of submitted applications.

The committee coordinates with the Government departments, University, e-Grantz, National Scholarship Portal (NSP), Minority Welfare Department, SC/ST/OBC and other competent authorities for the effective implementation of scholarship schemes. It ensures that eligible students are properly guided and that applications and supporting documents are processed and forwarded within the prescribed time.

The committee also provides guidance regarding fee concessions, educational financial assistance, merit-based scholarships, minority scholarships, SC/ST/OBC scholarships, disability-related scholarships, and other student welfare schemes, as applicable. It maintains proper records of scholarship applications, beneficiaries, renewals, and related correspondence and promotes transparency and accountability in the process. Students who face financial difficulties, difficulty in applying for scholarships, problems with document verification, application rejection, delayed payments, renewal issues, or any other scholarship-related concern can directly approach the teacher in charge or designated members of the Scholarship Committee for guidance and support. The committee endeavours to ensure that no eligible student is deprived of an available scholarship or financial assistance due to lack of information or procedural difficulties.

Student Support System

The various committees, cells, clubs, and support systems of the college are constituted in accordance with the guidelines, regulations, and directions issued by the competent statutory and higher education authorities, including the University, Government, and other regulatory bodies, as applicable.

These committees function as accessible support mechanisms for the academic, personal, social, cultural, health, welfare, and developmental needs of students. Every student is free to directly approach the teacher/coordinator or the designated person in charge of the concerned committee, cell, or club to discuss any grievance, difficulty, concern, requirement, suggestion, or matter requiring support.

Students may approach the concerned committee for:

  • Academic, personal, welfare, or other student-related grievances.
  • Financial assistance, scholarships, and welfare schemes.
  • Counselling, mentoring, mental health, and well-being support.
  • Disability-related support and accessibility requirements.

The committees and coordinators are expected to respond to students' concerns promptly and appropriately, maintain confidentiality wherever required, facilitate necessary support or referral, and take suitable action within their assigned responsibilities. Students are encouraged to approach the appropriate committee without hesitation and actively participate in the various programmes and activities organized by the college.
